The Insulated Hood Women

Walking keeps you warm, and then you stop, and it does not. This is the jacket for everything after that: quilted synthetic insulation, a lined hood, and a cut slim enough through the sleeve that a shell will still go over it. The hem finishes lower at the back for sitting down on cold ground, the cuffs land at your wrist rather than over your hand, and the hood has room behind it for hair that is tied up. It flattens down far enough to ride in a daypack all winter.

Cut on a women's pattern, narrower through the shoulder and shaped through the waist, so take your usual size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one, because everything here is meant to be layered.

Machine wash cool and inside out, and skip the fabric softener. It coats the fibre and is the most common way people ruin the wicking on a base layer. Do not tumble dry fleece or anything waterproof. Heated pieces are washed only with the power cell removed.
